American Begonia Society Video Library

RENTAL INSTRUCTIONS

Charge is $15.00, plus your cost to return slides/ videos to the Slide Library. Make checks payable to the American Begonia Society.

Please order a 1st choice, 2nd choice and 3rd choice when ordering. Programs are rented quite often, giving several choices will ensure you a program rental. Order by Slide/ Video number and name/description of the program. Order well in advance in order to allow traveling time and to view slides/videos prior to showing them to your group.

Slide/Video programs are to be shipped First Class Mail and insured for $100 dollars.

“Travelling with Begonias”, Marilyn Goldstein.  A demonstration of the safest and easiest method of transporting your begonias to and from a convention. “Art in the Making, Bonsai Begonias”:  A professionally made video for Public Access TV.  The 55 minute video demonstrates how to create bonsai’s from Begonias.  Choosing a plant, trimming, training and the final results are all shown in this interesting video donated by Charles McGough.

“Growing Begonias in Terrariums”.  A video made by Public Access TV.  This 55 minute video demonstrates how to grow begonias in terrariums.  Potting medium, showing how to repot, watering and care are shown in this interesting video.  Also see some exquisite terrarium begonias.  The program is presented by terrarium expert Wanda Macnair.  Donated by Wanda & Richard Macnair.

“1991 ABS Convention”.  A silent video of the individual entries from the 1991 ABS convention hosted by the Potomac Branch.  A written key is also provided to follow the video.  An 18 minute video.

“1992 ABS Convention’.  A 2 hour and 20 minute video of the 1992 ABS Convention hosted by the Orange Co Branch in Anaheim, California.  An opportunity to meet ABS personalities in this voice video that covers registration, plant sales, judging, banquet, auction, hospitality room and tours from this great convention.

“From Prop Box to Show”.  1991 ABS Convention lecture presented by Mary Bucholtz with some demonstration of various methods of propagating.  A 45 minute video.

“Experiences with Imported Plants”. 1991 ABS Convention lecture presented by Rudolf Ziezenhenne.  A historical lecture with anecdotal stories of Rudy’s experiences with importing begonias.  Some questions and answers from the audience.  Very interesting video.  A 30 minute video.

“Southeast Asia Begonia Expedition, Past & Future”. 1991 ABS Convention lecture by Scott Hoover.  Good renderings of Scott Hoovers’s slide presentation of his trip to Southeast Asia.  Interesting commentary with some good back and forth discussions between Scott Hoover and Thelma O’Reilly.  A 1 hour video.

B18.

“Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens”.  1991 ABS lecture by Kelton Parker.  Good shots of individual plants.  Audio a little low as speaker is very soft spoken.  Great close-ups of foliage and flowers.  All plants indentified but recommend viewing program first before showing to a group, so that plants can be identified and commentator can assist plants.  1 hr program.
